Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning

What Is Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is a gentle, non-invasive treatment, that delicately eliminates the upper layer of your skin, targeting the dead skin cells and removing the “peach fuzz”, revitalising your skin, for a fresh look and radiant glow.

Dermaplaning can help minimise the appearance of skin spots and blemishes whilst addressing fine lines and wrinkles for soft and smooth looking skin.

Lie back and relax whilst we treat your face to a gentle double cleanse, steam and serum application to your skin,

in preparation for your Dermaplaning experience. Using a surgical steal microblade and serum, we will carefully glide the blade over your face, exfoliating your outermost layer of skin, eliminating dead skin cells, and removing the fine hair “peach fuzz”, followed by applying a light exfoliation peel, hydrating facemask, soothing moisturiser and SPF to help lock in moisture and protect your skin.

To get the best out of your treatment a good "at home" skin-care regime is recommended.

Through the removal of vellous hair and the outermost layer of dead skin cells, dermaplaning instantly revitalizes the skin. Along with leaving skin smooth, supple, and vibrant, it is also good at minimizing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and acne scars. It works wonders to prepare the skin for enzyme treatments and peels, as well as to improve the absorption of active components in professional and DIY skincare products. It’s the go-to treatment for high-profile events and makes the ideal canvas for makeup application.

Your treatment doesn't end when you walk out of the salon, for the best results a good "at home" skin-care regime is recommended.  Ask us about our wonderful skin-care products that are perfect for after-treatment and routine skin-care.

FAQ

Benefits

Exfoliation

Dermaplaning can be combined with other skincare treatments to provide a more in-depth and personalised skin treatment regime.  However, dermaplaning as a skin treatment on its own, can provide the following benefits: Removing dead skin cells Eliminating the fine facial hair, otherwise known as “peach fuzz” Helping minimise the appearance of acne scars, spots and pitted skin Reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles Improve skin texture and sun-damaged skin Brightening dry and or dull skin Helping skin look and feel smoother Allowing for deeper absorption of skincare products Preparing the skin for other skincare treatments No downtime

Side Affects

Kalyana Aesthetics

Dermaplaning is non-invasive and considered to be low-risk and suitable for most people. The most common side effect of dermaplaning is some redness which may appear immediately following the procedure, which may appear to look worse for the first few days, but this will calm down and the benefits will start to show. Occasionally you may be “nicked” with the blade.  Should this happen, the treatment will pause whilst we place light pressure over the area to cease any bleeding that may occur, before continuing with your treatment.  We will inform you if this happens. Very occasionally, you may develop some patchy pigmentation on your face, but this will disappear with time.

Aftercare

Remove Peach Fuzz

You will be provided with a full aftercare sheet to help you care for, and maintain, your skin after your treatment. Following our aftercare plan, will ensure you get the best results for as long as possible After your dermaplaning experience, your skin on your face will be more sensitive to sun exposure. During your treatment you will have sunscreen applied to protect your skin, you will need to ensure that you apply sunscreen, at least SPF 30, every time you go outside (even if its cloudy), for several weeks. Make sure you cleanse your skin daily, using only water or a very mild facial cleanser, and then pat your face dry, rather than rubbing it. Your regime should also include using a moisturiser and/or serum that is rich in hyaluronic acid and vitamin C. In addition to sunscreen, we recommend the following aftercare advice: Do not apply makeup for 24 hours Drink plenty of water and avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours Avoid direct sun exposure for at least 24 hours Avoid extreme heat or cold for at least 24 hours Avoid saunas, sunbeds, hot tubs and chlorinated pools for 24 hours Avoid exercise, or getting sweaty for 24 hours Do not exfoliate or use facial scrubs for at least 1 week

How long do the
results last for?

Smooth Make-Up

Dermaplaning can be performed every 4 weeks. Treating your skin with a Dermaplane removes about 2 to 3 weeks of dead skin cells, so adding this treatment to your skin care regime will keep your results continuous.

What is "Peach Fuzz" and
will it make my hair grow back darker?

Cream Application

“Peach fuzz” is the fine soft layer of hairs (vellus hairs) on your face. Dermaplaning doesn't make your hair grow back thicker or darker. However, if you have darker patches of hair growth on your face (normally on the chin and upper lip area) you may decide to leave these areas as regrowth may come through with blunt ends, making the appearance look thicker / darker. We will ask you before we treat these specific areas. For those with stubble, we will leave these areas, working only on the areas that no/ little/ fine hair growth comes through. If you are unsure about hair regrowth or stubble areas, please ask us for more information
