Injectable dermal fillers have fast become a “go to” and are a nonsurgical cosmetic procedure that smooth lines, plump up wrinkles, and give your face more volume.
The loss of collagen occurs in the body as you age. Not only does your skin, muscles, bones, and connective tissues contain this material, but it is present throughout your body as well. FAQ
Benefits
Dermal filler is a gel like substance made up of hyaluronic acid which is natural found in the skin, this is broken down and lost as we age. Stabilised Hyaluronic acid is injected into the dermis of the skin to replace or add volume, creating fresh, plump, youthful looking skin. HA dermal filler breaks down over time with the body’s metabolism. Therefore, the results are not permanent and can be reversed. Dermal Filler can be of benefit to the below: Lips: There are a number of reasons for having lip enhancements from enhancing a small top lip to giving the lips a little plump and voluptuousness Marionette lines: Marionette lines are the folds which run from the corners of the mouth, down toward the chin. These lines can often turn the corners of the mouth down, resulting in the a “sad looking mouth” Nasolabial folds: Nasolabial folds, also known as “smile lines” or “nose to moth lines” are the folds, or lines which run from the corner of your nose to the corner of your mouth. These folds are caused by the loss of volume in the fatty tissue of the subcutaneous layer of the skin. Perioral lines: Otherwise known as “smokers’ lines,” are lines that surround the lips which are caused by facial animation, and over pursuing the lips. We refer to these lines as “smokers’ lines” as often, we will see these lines on those that smoke. This being due to smoking being a major contributor to the ageing of this skin, and also, the lips are being pursed on a regular basis and with repeated muscle movement, this scrunches the skin covering the muscle causing the area to wrinkle overtime. This results in small vertical lines seeming from the lips, often causing lipstick to “blood”.
Side Affects
There will be some swelling, especially if you are having dermal fillers in your lips, this is very normal and will reduce over time. You may also experience pain, redness and bruising at the injection site, these are all temporary and will . Arnica will help with the recovery of bruising. Hematomas can arise and will normally appear as a small painful swelling, with blood bubbling to the surface of the lip – this can be treated with a cold compress and anti inflammatory and pain relief medication such as ibruprofen and paracetamol Infections – please follow correct hygiene and aftercare advice to reduce infection risk Migration and Nodules – there is a risk of the HA migrating -to reduce this risk, please do not massage or touch the area for at least 24 hours. Occlusion – there is a risk of occluding a vessel at the injection point. It will be immediately obvious with pain and change in skin colour. To mitigate the risk we will aspirate every injection point and carry dissolver to immediately dissolve the filler . We will discuss with you all the risks that are associated with this procedure
Aftercare
You will be provided with a full aftercare sheet to help you care for, and maintain, your skin after your treatment. Following our aftercare plan, will ensure you get the best results for as long as possible After your dermal filler treatment there maybe some slight swelling, redness, or tenderness, bruising or itchiness in the area – this is a very normal reaction of the product and injection, the inconvenience is temporary and generally resolves within a couple of days If you are having a lip enhancement the initial swelling can last a little longer with the full healing process taking up to 14 days after the initial treatment. An ice pack can be used to resolve any swelling. Avoid touching the area for 24 hours and treat it as an open wound. Avoid any make up, sauna, steam rooms, sunbeds for 24 hours and do not expose to extreme heat or extreme cold. If you have previously suffered from facial herpes, there is a risk that the injections could contribute to another eruption of herpes (facial cold sores). If you are using aspirin or any similar medication, be aware that this may increase the risk of bruising or bleeding at the injection site. If bruising is present arnica herbal remedy cream can be applied 24 hours after the treatment.
How long do the
results last for?
Results vary between clients As they say ” Rome wasn’t built in a day” and I am of the belief that less is more. For most, an initial visit will be enough to create the look they desire. For others, it will be the foundation to build upon, it is easier to add more filler on a foundation than to remove it. Once you have your desired results, they will last approximately 6-9 months
